Why it’s Important to Create Memories

If 2020 and the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that any and everything can change in our lives in an instant! The loss suffered across the world was immense, and we just weren’t ready for it.

First of all Covid was something we were hearing about on the news that was going on in another country, and before we knew it, it was on our doorstep, right here in the UK!

At the time my daughter was in Australia doing her degree and once Covid hit the UK, she wanted to come home. There was chaos with the airlines, and we figured out very quickly that her journey back to us wasn’t going to be easy. Each time she booked a flight, the connecting country back to the UK would close its borders and cancel her flight.

All we were hearing about on the news was sickness and tragic losses, and the numbers were increasing by the day.

People were panicking, especially those who were separated from their loved ones by oceans.

Luckily, my beautiful daughter managed to get a flight, and when I picked her up from Heathrow Airport Boris Johnson announced our country going into lockdown before we got home. Phew!

Why is it so important to capture memories in pictures?

As a family photographer I think it’s so important to capture as many memories as possible in photographs, all those happy moments frozen in time. With or without the loss of a loved one, these memories are precious and priceless to look back over and relive whenever you want to.

See the picture of my dear father here? I took this just under a year before he passed, which was just a few months before writing this post. My dad read the Daily Mirror every single day of his adult life. When we knew he was ill, that ramped up my keenness to get in the studio and capture the memory of him the way he always was…..reading his newspaper!

I knew that I can pick up this photo at any time and soak up the memory and essence of my dear dad.

This is why I love family portraits in the studio. I’m proud to serve so many families in the most incredible way by helping them to create lifelong memories.

Best job in the world!
