What to expect from a family photo-shoot

When you come to the studio for your family photoshoot with the children, you can expect this to be an easy, relaxed and enjoyable experience.

I can promise you that I won't be huddling them together, staring and the camera and saying "cheese". What I always try to do is capture the young ones in their most authentic way. Kids play, they laugh, they have fun and that's what I'll be aiming to capture…..for you.

This means they might be rolling around on the floor, playing with toys, eating chocolate, screaming, hiding their little faces. You name it, they'll be doing it. And I reckon this is ultimately the way you want to carry forward the memory of them as they grow.

Sometimes parents and/or grandparents are a little nervous before they come into the studio ... "will they behave?", "What if they don't look at the camera?" "Why if they are shy?"

You absolutely don't have to worry about that. I encourage you to carry forward memories of your child just how they are. If they're having fun, I'll do my best to capture that for you......if I can keep up with them!

To keep them engaged I always suggest they are fed and watered before they arrive, and it’s even better if they’re not tired.

Bring their favourite toys, and if they like the idea of dressing up, bring a bag of clothes with you too!

When you look back over these photos in years to come, what you will feel will be incredible. These will be so much more interesting for you to look at and share with others. They will provoke so much more emotion and conversation around them, because unposed images will show off more of their awesome little personalities.
